ABOUT

Akhil Mathew, a.k.a Loozmathai, is a singer-songwriter, composer, and producer from Kochi, Kerala. Inspired by artists such as Devin Townsend, Patrick Watson, and Hans Zimmer, his music blends indie, orchestral, and rock elements into a unique sonic experience.

His journey into music began early when he got his hands on a keyboard at the age of two. A friend taught him the basics, and he was instantly hooked. This passion led to his first-ever performance at a school annual day. Being part of the church choir further honed his vocal skills, and a defining moment during a college performance made him realize that music was his true calling.

In 2017, he co-founded Showtime Kochi, an initiative aimed at providing a platform for artists to perform and overcome stage fright. He went on to play keys for the band Honor Among Thieves (HATs) and performed at various events like open mics, flea markets, V12 Verve, Olam Festival, and Naalam at NUALS. During this time, he adopted the name Loozmathai or Looz, a moniker that soon became his artistic identity.

In 2019, he joined The Lost Circus, a band known for its chillwave indie/dream pop/shoegaze sound, releasing two songs, Fly and Better Place. Over the years, he collaborated with various Kochi-based artists, including Vishnu Varma, Vishnu Sunil, Jeremiah D'Rozario, Kasthoori Mohan (Kalakaari), and Shruti Lakshmi (Bhoomi).

Now expanding into film composition, Loozmathai recently worked on his latest project for Chatha Pacha to produce an Acoustic Version of Shankar Ehsaan Loy's track called "Nenjile" with Sooraj Santhosh on vocals. This marks a new chapter in his artistic journey, blending cinematic storytelling with his signature musical style.

With every project, Loozmathai continues to evolve, crafting immersive experiences that resonate deeply with his audience.
